Weathering the Storm Vision:

To provide the community and region with relationships and resources for the unemployed that will enable new callings and careers through Christ!

Weathering the Storm Mission:

 
To field a ministry team comprised of pastors, coaches and professionals in various areas that will assist and support unemployed individuals in a Christian resource network.

Guiding Principles of Weathering the Storm

 
  • Dignity and respect for all, ensuring confidentiality in all areas of the ministry.
  • Maintain an environment to encourage the individual to take responsibility for their destiny
  • Ensure prompt follow-up between clients and coaches
  • Continued intercessory prayer for all areas of the ministry
  • Maintain the hope of Christ in all situations in the ministry

      Upcoming Presentations

      In addition to the typical presentations on resume writing, networking and interview preparation, we cover other topics of interest.  Here are some examples:

      2010

      JANUARY
      On January 7, Belinda Lee, former recruiter, will be presenting “Did I Say That?!: What Not to Say at Interviews!” based on information from her new book.

      On January 21, Don DeGraff, Sr. Recruiter for Bank of America, will be presenting “What I Look for in Resumes and Interviews:  Insights from a Recruiter’s Standpoint.”  After a brief presentation, Don will provide a roundtable discussion where he will take questions that attendees might want to ask a recruiter, but have not had the chance to ask.

      FEBRUARY
      On February 4, Rob Sorantino, Independent HR consultant and networking guru, will be discussing “Now is the Time to Reinvent Yourself.”

      On February 18, Jeff Wible, IT recruiter at Chase, will be presenting “Preparing for an Interview,” which will also include a discussion on how to conduct oneself during the interview.

      MARCH
      On March 4, Vanessa Jackson, PHR, an HR consultant and former recruiter, will be presenting “You've applied for that job...you've submitted your resume...now what happens?"

      On March 18, James S. Gulezian, SPHR, Director of Human Resources at Zodiac Aerospace, will be presenting “Building the Employment Relationship During the Interviewing and Selection Process:  How I Landed at ESCO-ZA.”

      APRIL
      On April 1, Ed Samuels, award-winning recruiter for GRN, will be presenting "Preparing for Interviews that Land Candidates Job Offers."

      On April 15, Mary Schaefer, MRHM and PHR and president of Artemis Path, Inc., will be discussing, "Make Your Job Search a Treasure Hunt: Mine LinkedIn for Valuable Connections."

      On April 29, Maria Novak, Managing Director for eWomanNetwork, will be presenting “Networking“101” Get Your
      ROI out of Your Networking Efforts”
       

      MAY

      On May 13, Joyce Dennis Henderson, Assistant Director of Career Services at U of DE, will be presenting “The Power of Prayer” How prayer is vital to your job search.


      Note: There will only one meeting this month due to Memorial Day weekend

       

      JUNE

      On June 10, Herb Broadwater, On-site Manager at Spherion, will be presenting “A Resume Refresher and Positive Coaching in Life's Tough Game.”


      On June 24, Amy Dinning, Training expert, will be presenting. Subject to be determined.

      On July 22, Abby Kohut, President of Staffing Symphony and author of Absolutely Abby’s 101 Job Search Secrets, will be presenting “
      Job Searching 2010 - How to Play & Beat the Odds”

       

      AUGUST

      On August 5, Marion Ward, Senior Training & Development Consultant at MidAtlantic Employers’ Association, will be presenting “Understanding Communication Style: How to Connect with the Interviewer & Get Hired!” 
       
      On August 19, Rick Hays, VP of Client Services at Career Concepts, will be presenting "The Art of Negotiating".

      OCTOBER

      On October 14, Skip Torresson, former sales and business manager and founder of The Stewardship Group, will be presenting: "Pursuing Your Passion - A Journey of the Spirit".
